A little robot who lives on your desktop. He fishes, gardens, cooks, catches bugs, and mostly functions without you. Ignore him too long and he grabs your cursor.
Patchy lives on your desktop. Not in a window on your desktop, actually on it, in front of your wallpaper and behind your cursor, doing his own thing while you work, play games, or whatever it is you do.
You can click straight through him. Your icons, windows, taskbar, all of it behaves like he isn't there. He gets on with his day, reacts to your local weather, and mostly functions without you. But if he gets angry he will grab your cursor and nudge your panels around until you give him some attention.
In front of your wallpaper, behind your cursor. Click straight through him. Your windows and taskbar carry on like he isn't there.
Fishing, gardening, cooking, painting, model kits, stargazing, chasing bugs with a net, feeding birds, working out, and the occasional dance for no reason.
He is not good at all of it. Early on he burns dinner and a little drone puts out the fire. Over time every one of his skills improves.
Fish in the aquarium, bugs pinned in a case, flowers and finished models on a shelf. It piles up in his corner of the screen.
He watches your cursor, notices when you pick him up, and has opinions about being thrown. Drag a file onto him and he bins it for you.
Tell him your coordinates once and he knows what it's doing outside. When it rains, up goes the umbrella.
Leave him alone and he'll go find something to do.
He fishes, waters the garden, cooks something, paints, builds a model kit, drags a telescope out to look at the stars, chases bugs with a net, feeds the birds, works out, and occasionally just dances for no reason at all.
He's not good at all of it either. Cooking he actually has to learn. Early on he burns dinner and then a little drone puts out the fire. Over time all of his skills improve.
Whatever he finds or makes, he keeps.
Fish go in the aquarium. Insects get pinned in a display case. Flowers and finished models end up on a shelf. It piles up in his corner of the screen over time.
In the companion app you decide what's actually on display and what goes into storage.
He pays attention to you.
He watches your cursor. He notices when you pick him up, and he has opinions about being thrown. He knows what the weather's doing outside too, once you've given him your coordinates. He can't see out of a window, so you have to tell him, and then he'll put an umbrella up in the rain.
And if you drag a file onto him, he takes it off you, has a look, carries it over to a bin and chucks it in. It goes to the Recycle Bin, so nothing is ever really gone.
Things turn up.
Cats, mainly. Sometimes one, sometimes five at once, and he'll sit down on the floor and pet whichever is closest. A dog shows up now and then wanting to play fetch, so he throws the ball and the dog brings it back, and the two of them keep that going for a little while.
Some of the other visitors are considerably bigger, much scarier, and a lot less friendly than he is. You'll go hours without seeing one of those, though.
